Karen Ekman-Baur has been involved in the field of education for many years, in both teaching and university advising. She taught in the United States until 1976, when she moved to Germany, continuing her teaching career in U.S. Department of Defense schools and at the International School of Stuttgart. She has been active in the international guidance community since 2002, regularly attending professional conferences and participating in tours to a variety of colleges and universities. From 2002 through 2008, she was instrumental in developing the college advising program at the International School of Stuttgart.

Mrs. Ekman-Baur served as a member
of the Guidance and Counseling Committee of ECIS (European Council
of International Schools) from 2006-2008. She assumed responsibility in 2008 for leading the yearly E/CIS
College Counselor Tour of colleges and universities and will be leading the CIS (Council of International Schools) University Counselor Tour in 2009.
Mrs. Ekman-Baur is committed to helping students reach their higher education goals by assisting them in negotiating the sometimes complicated university search and application processes and in finding universities and career paths which "fit".
